Date of Catch:
The South Line
While the fishing was slow, the weather was fantastic on this Independence Day opener. Temperatures almost reached 90°F, which is really unheard of in Southcentral Alaska. With calm waters, we yearned for the occasional breeze to come through and provide comfort from the sun. The mast couldn't take the heat and broke on us, giving us a project to work on while the net soaked in the glassy water.
